Don't know about you but I can't even imagine a life growing up without books and I live here where there are few textbooks and even less books to read for pleasure. Fairy tales which taught us about right and wrong, good vs evil, happy endings and prevailing against all odds. Textbooks that gave us the facts about so many subjects, fictional books that showed us so many other possibilities and non-fictional books that showed us the lives of other people and other places. Remember when you first read of other people in other lands and realizing the diversity of life on this planet? Remember when your mother or father read to you each night?
We started as the first lending library in Granada, added two reading rooms, started deliveries of books to 27 area schools and helped many community libraries to start and to thrive. We are impacting thousands of young minds to be so much more and to learn of the world around them.
Unfortunately, it requires money to keep the organization going. None of us take any salary nor expenses but we do have Nicaraguan employees as librarians and there is rent and other expenses. All of our expenses are only about $800 a month but it is real money that we must find somewhere.
As the holidays come upon us, consider giving a donation to a good cause. We need donors that can provide a set amount each month. There are so many ways you can help bring books to the people here. Introducing just one small child to the world of books is a joy for the holidays.

You can also give a gift certidicate to someone that provides a donation in their name or in their memory. Probably more useful than a loud tie and the gift keeps on giving. Please remember us this season.
We and the children here wish you the best of holidays!
