Hello Puedo Leer Family!
After a long hiatus we have decided to revamp our Puedo Leer Newsletter! We will plan to use this forum to keep you posted on all things related to Puedo Leer every quarter. We will share our student spotlights – highlighting their journey to becoming avid readers who love books. We will also keep you informed of any special events, as well as posted on the progress of any projects that we have underway. Lastly we will communicate any exciting upcoming events. We hope that this newsletter will help to keep our Puedo Leer family, both near and far, aware of all of the wonderful progress that we are making towards achieving our mission. We encourage you to spread the news of Puedo Leer and share our mission with your friends and family through forwarding our Newsletter.
Hope that you enjoy!
Student Spotlight – Olanda, Then and Now
Olanda has been a member of Puedo Leer library for over six years. She began coming to the library when she was five years old – you can see her pictured in the photo to the left at five. Coming to Puedo Leer library helped Olanda to cultivate a love of reading and learning.
Recently, Puedo Leer library hosted a spelling bee. Olanda, now age 11, was the lucky winner of this contest! She spelled G-U-B-E-R-N-A-M-E-N-T-A-L-E-S !!
We hope that when the children who reside in the communities that we serve come to our library, they learn to love reading and through that love are able to achieve great success !
A Trip to the Museum
We recently took 40 children who are members of all three of our libraries on a wonderful outing to visit the newly renovated Museo Convento San Francisco next to the San Francisco Church. Our children and librarians had the wonderful opportunity to learn about the history of Granada, customs, food, and art. We hope that this trip inspired our children to want to learn more about history through reading novels that explore what life was like in distant times. The children were all thrilled to attend!
